Question to municipal manager Steve Feller and his written response of September 20, 2005:

Question 16: Do police incident reports involving taser discharge include the discharge duration?
Answer: No. The offense reports do not include this information.

Comment: The taser stores information about the time and date of a discharge as well as the duration of a discharge. In follow-up questioning Steve Feller said that periodic reports on taser use are not generated. Open taser use policies normally require periodic reports that audit every taser firing whether the firing is accidental, for training purposes or actual field use. The reports typically include the discharge duration as a means to ensure that tasers are not being used for abusive purposes.
